Step 1: Think ahead to 12 months from today...
Picture yourself one year from now.
You’ve just completed a year of meaningful progress. You navigated difficult conversations with confidence, influenced stakeholders in new ways, and showed up with greater presence and purpose.
Now, your future self is writing a letter to the present you, sharing what changed, how it felt, and what made the biggest difference.
Step 2: Write a letter to yourself
Use this prompt to guide your reflection:
Dear Me,
I’m writing to thank you. Over the past year, something in me shifted. I showed up differently in meetings, in moments of tension, and even when the path wasn’t clear.
Here’s what changed:

Step 3: Define your CQ anchor
Once you’ve written your letter, revisit it and highlight two things:
- Your CQ mantra: A single sentence that captures how you now think about communication.
- Your next commitment: One clear intention to bring into your upcoming conversations.
Write them down. Set a reminder. Add them to a digital workspace where they can quietly guide your actions. These small anchors help turn insight into daily practice.
